Just to remind you that mookau is open this Bank Holiday Monday as usual, although we’re only open our Sunday hours of 11am to 5pm.

Oops – I set the publish date for this update for the wrong month, somehow. I’m blaming it on incompetence. Anyway – we have a fabulous jewellery sale on at mookau at the moment, with up to 50% off – sparkly bargains indeed!

Since this product was launched in Spring, it’s been one of our most popular lines here at mookau – so much so, that they regularly sell out within days of arriving.  The perfect adornment for any cosy room, these cute, vintage style floral ‘LOVE’ cushions measure 40cm high – and are a steal at just £34.99 a set. And the good news is, they are now back in stock, ready for a new home – but selling fast, so grab ‘em while you can!

When we got the keys to what is now mookau nearly three years ago, the outside of the shop was a rather austere (and strangely shiny) black. We wanted something a bit fresher so we painted it it’s current light green. Or at least we painted 95% of it green. The observant amongst you will notice that we didn’t quite finish the corners and because we ran out of time before we opened, and because when we went back for more paint of the same colour it has been discontinued. Bah!

That’s all about to change, however, as we’re painting it tomorrow – if the weather holds! The paint has been bought (and we got a spare can, just in case this time) and the scaffolding has been booked. All that needs to happen now if for me to sand it down and paint it.

Rest assured that we’re still going to be open, but I’ll be up a ladder rather than in the shop. Do shout hello though.

We always say that mookau is between Starbucks and Fat Face because people who don’t know Sheffield are, we reckon, fairly likely to recognise those two shops. In actual fact though our left-hand neighbour is Barney Goodman the Tailor – Starbucks is next door but one. Or at least it was until yesterday.

For those of you who don’t know, Barney Goodman was established in 1925, and is a very well know name amongst those who buy tailored suits in Sheffield. You don’t stay in business for 85 years without being good! They have been on Ecclesall Road for 25 years, but have now gone mobile – you can still get your Barney Goodman suit by contacting John via their new website www.barneygoodman.com Johh will then visit you to discuss your requirements and do all your fittings.

Anyway, here at mookau we’re going to miss having John and Tony next door – who am I going to have a chat with on my way to get a coffee now? Best of luck with the new venture guys, and if you want a suit, get in touch with them and say hello from mookau!
