Bombay Duck Charms

We’ve got some fab new lines in from Bombay Duck this week. The diamante alphabet hooks are also now fully restocked, but going fast, so get them while we still have a full alphabet! (We’ve never managed more than 3 days so far!)

There’s also some lovely new charms in – if you haven’t seen our customisable charm collection yet, you simply must come down and take a look. You choose your jewellery – we’ve got necklaces & bracelets (2 sizes), and also customisable mobile phone and bag/keyring charm holders too – then add as many charms as you wish. We’ve currently got 35 different ones to choose from, as well as every letter of the alphabet in two different styles. What I love about these is that you can have just one item of jewellery that you can constantly change and update, as the charms just clip on and off as you desire. We’ll be constantly getting new and different charms in too, so you’ll never get bored! The charms are also available from Bombay Duck’s own website at £2.95 each, but they’re only £2.50 at mookau, and you get to look at and fall in love with all our other gorgeous things while you’re here!

I was allowed to order

Kit is writing a blog post about the girly things, but there are quite a few cool-geeky things in too because I got a bit carried away at the trade show last week.

As a result we have got these fab key bottle openers. They look like a real key, and are the same size. I don’t wish to sound like I am reckless with my own safety after the previous revelations about pencil sharpener blades and staplers, but I distinctly remember the gritty mouth that accompanied the chipping of one of my molars the one and only time I opened a bottle of beer with my teeth.

If I’d had one of these babies I’d have a full set of teeth, and it might even have impressed the girl more than me swearing and spitting out a bit of gob-ivory.

Cool Geeky Things – Hip Flask in a Book

I remember as a kid reading comics (and when I say comics I mean the Beano and Whizzer & Chips, not that Sci-Fi stuff they have nowadays) there was usually some character in each one who had hidden something in a hollowed out book. It was quite a common plot device in Scooby Doo as well as I recall. Sorry if that has spoiled the box set for you – it was probably the old bloke who owned the fairground.

I think I even tried to make a hollowed out book once, using a blade removed from a pencil sharpener. Come on, we’ve all done it. I’ve got a scar on the middle finger of my right hand from using a pencil sharpener blade upside down once. Don’t worry, it was quite sharp so it didn’t hurt too much, not like the time I accidentally stapled two fingers together. Parents, don’t let your children have stationery – they will think of ways of injuring themselves you could never imagine.

Anyway, I digress, as ever. What I meant to say all along is we have cool hollow books in stock, with a stainless steel hip flask inside them. The book itself looks like an old fashioned bible, but inside lies the flask. What impressed me was it has actual pages, not a big block of cardboard printed to look like pages.

Fill it up and give it as a gift, or keep it on your bookshelf and non-one will ever know of your secret stash.

Even more new things, and more on the way!

Ok, so it seems that whatever blockage in the supply chain that stopped any of our suppliers delivering anything at all last week has gone just as mysteriously as it dissappeared, because we got another big delivery this morning.

This means that the shop is now even more full of fabulous things, but it also means that I haven’t had chance to put any pictures up yet. Hopefully they’ll go up later, but we have even more things arriving tomorrow so we need to go to Ikea after we close to buy another display, so pictures might be a while coming.

In the meantime, pop in and have a look. We are open 10am to 6:30pm Monday to Saturday, and 11am until 5pm on Sunday.

New items in…

We had a late delivery today, so there will be lots of new things in tomorrow as well as replenished stocks of some previously sold out favourites.

One of the new lines we have is remote controlled helicopters, so naturally I’m off to practice flying for now. There are girly things in too, but they don’t fly or take batteries. The picture shows the helicopter with a penny for scale – and they really do fly. We have then in blue, yellow and red.

Cute Baby Hats

I know what you’re thinking, but they are definitely baby hats – I tried to make them fit so I could take the pictures, but in the end I had to use Kathy’s arm as a proxy-baby.

They look even better on a real baby I would imagine.

Fabulous New Jewellery

September is here, summer holidays now seem an all too distant memory – even though you’re still dousing yourself in aftersun every night to try and preserve what’s left of your tan, and the weather forecasters insist on predicting a late summer, let’s face it, the nights are getting longer and winter is a mere heartbeat away.

But let’s not be all ‘glass half-empty’ here – a new season means a whole new wardrobe, and a whole new jewellery collection to go with it. These fabulous pieces are new in this week from Gecko of London’s ‘Primrose Hill’ collection. One of my favourite things about this range is it’s versatility – the long chunky necklaces in particular are great for livening up your working wardrobe, but look equally at home worn casually with jeans and a tunic top, or adding the finishing touch to your party season collection. Let’s face autumn looking fabulous!
