- Welcome To Our Home Doormat
Welcome To Our Home Coir DoormatA natural coir doormat saying ‘Welcome to Our Home’
The mat measure 73cm by 43cm, and is made of coconut fibres (coir). This natural material is excellent for mats, but it will shed a little in the first month or so of use – this is normal. Simply brush the loose fibres off until your mat settles down.
- Japanese Doll Shoulder Bag
Japanese Doll Shoulder BagThese super light bags are made from recycled plastic bottles, and have a nylon strap.
The bag is really strong depsite being so light, and the material is water resistant too, making them ideal for school, college or everyday use.
The bag itself is about 30cm x 33cm and 9cm or so deep. The strap is adjustable, so it can be used as an over the shoulder bag by a child or an adult.
- Egg Cup – Red Girl
Red Girl Ceramic Egg CupI’ve taken inspiration from my daughter when describing this egg cup. The people that came with her toy garage are called “garage persons” and their names are “red garage person”, “blue garage person” and so on. That makes this “red girl egg cup.”
This rather cute egg-cup is the correct size for hens eggs and similar. It would be inadequate for an ostrich egg, and somewhat oversized for a quails egg, being as it is about 7cm tall and 5cm across. It is hand painted, and therefore not suitable for putting in the dishwasher, but then how dirty can an egg cup get?

Regular customers may have heard me referring to the bit of sky you can see from the counter at mookau as my ‘little tent of blue’ because it’s kind of triangular. I use it as my gauge of the weather, and today it has been uniformly grey, which means it’s a day for packing a rainhood in your bag. A good day for a flask
0We like to use as many of the things we sell at mookau as possible, partly because we buy lovely things, and partly so we can tell you more about them if you ask.
Well, today being quite damp, I’ve brought a flask of coffee in to the shop with me in one of our Nina Jarema flasks – the shop fridge has packed up you see, and I’ve already reached my recommended weekly allowance on Coffeemate.
In doing so I’ve discovered something quite brilliant about these metal flasks, and it is this. If you put freshly brewed coffee into the flask when the flask is cold and then add milk, the temperature of the inside of the flask and the coffee will average out, which miraculously makes the coffee the perfect temperature to drink. No more pouring your coffee (or tea, but it is the morning, so coffee for me) and then having to wait while it cools down, only to miss the key window of temperate perfection. Just pour and drink. Being a flask of course, the coffee still in it will stay the prefect temperature for hours on end. And naturally, if you want your drink to come out hot enough that you can cradle it lovingly, warming your hands as it cools, then just warm the flask up a bit with some spare boiling water whilst your tea of coffee brews.
